Bellota
The acorn of the holm oak eaten by the Iberian pig giving the meat its distinctive taste

Boveda
A vaulted ceiling made from bricks and plaster used in nearly all traditional Extremeños houses

Encinas
The Holm Oak or Holly Oak, Quercus ilex, native to the Mediterranean region
and ubiquitous in Extremadura

Dehesa
Type of grazing land for cattle and especially the Iberian pig formed from grassland and holm oaks

Extremeños
People from the province of Extremadura

Teja curva
Simple curved terracotta roof tile common in Spain and much of the world

Trujillanos
People from the town of Trujillo

Urbanaciones
Land within the peripheral urban remit of a village or town that receives the benefits of its electricity and water services. Often developed with speculative  housing estates

Policia Nacional
Police who deal with day-to-day matters
